Northern lights in Badlands National Park show off their blue colored hue as the solar flares from the sun race towards earth.

Boreal Light

Badlands National Park, South Dakota

During a trip to Badlands National Park in May of 2024, I spent the entire night photographing one of the most intense solar storms ever.  Standing in the center of the badlands and facing towards the sky, I witnessed one of the most impactful experiences of my life as the northern lights put on a spectacular show.
